ABOUT BRACES
Braces differ from one another in many ways. How they attach to the teeth varies. Most attach on the cheek side of the teeth, while some attach on the tongue side. These are called “lingual” braces.
Braces vary in appearance. Some braces are clear, nearly invisible, while others are made of stainless steel and may or may not have colored elastics around them. All braces are designed to enable the orthodontist to move teeth in three dimensions. The mechanics or techniques used for moving teeth vary as well. Talk with your orthodontist about his or her approach to orthodontic treatment.
GOOD NEWS! New techniques and appliances that we use, such as clear braces and Invisalign, greatly reduce discomfort levels. They may also shorten treatment times without compromising your appearance.
ADULT BRACES
Braces are not just for kids anymore. Teeth alignment can be changed at any age. We offer a variety of treatments that suit your lifestyle. Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums are equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum disease and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of tooth enameland sometimes jaw (TMJ) pain
DIFFERENT TYPES OF BRACES
Metal Braces
Metal braces are the most common type. They are made of high grade stainless steel. Today's metal braces are smaller, more comfortable, and more attractive.
Ceramic Braces
Wear ceramic braces and you'll have a lot to smile about. A comfortable design. An attractive, translucent appearance. And perhaps best of all, the self-confidence that comes from wearing braces that look as good as they perform. Unlike traditional metal braces, you won't have to worry about flashing a "tin grin" every time you smile. You'll feel better about yourself knowing that the natural beauty of your teeth is shining through, and not your braces.
Removable Appliances
For those who want a more affordable option of straightening teeth or closing spaces to improve your smile, limited orthodontic treatment with removable appliances (retainers) is an option. Desired results can be achieved quickly and the retainers can be removed when eating and for social situations.
Invisalign®
For many adults, Invisalign is the best way to straighten your teeth without having to live with the "metal mouth" look of traditional braces. That's because Invisalign is a series of clear, removable, plastic aligners that are custom-made for your teeth. Click here for more information about Invisalign.
